Sasha Neboha

Why did you start climbing?
My family loves an active lifestyle, we like to go to the mountains. At primary school I played various sports including football, swimming and athletics, but without much enthusiasm. One day, my friends from class suggested that I go climbing training with them. I watched how easy and graceful it was for them to climb one hold after another. I wanted to try it too, managed to do the route and then fell in love with climbing.

How long have you been climbing?
I started training three years ago at the age of 11.

Why do you climb?
I see climbing as the meaning of life. It’s an integral part of me, I realise myself through climbing.

What do you love about climbing?
The fact that it allows you to work on yourself and become the best version of yourself. Getting to the top requires long and hard training, and every route is unique in its own way.

What is your biggest climbing success?
I consider my biggest success to be the progress I have made since my first competition, the Ukrainian Championships in Kiev. Back then I won 28th place, and 6 months later thanks to consistency and determination I got to the final. In 2021 I was close to the podium, I won fourth place.

What are your climbing goals?
My most important goal is to join the Ukrainian team in difficulty climbing and bouldering by the end of 2023. The second goal is to climb at 7b+ level by the end of 2022.

What is your biggest dream?
My biggest dream is to participate in the Olympic Games and to become one of the best climbers in the world.
